We study what happens after people create something and it starts moving through other people, environments, institutions, and systems.
Why TISIC exists
Some questions need room before they become answers.
TISIC gives developing ideas a place to be examined without forcing them to become simple too soon.
The institute studies things people create together, including work, meaning, leadership, expectations, knowledge, and other human-made systems. We pay attention to what happens when those things leave their starting point and meet what surrounds them.
They may move, change, stabilize, separate, strengthen, repeat, or continue in a form no one planned. TISIC follows those possibilities carefully enough to ask better questions about what takes shape next.

We study the meeting and what becomes possible after it.
Change
Change may be immediate or difficult to see. What started in one form may be carried forward, reduced, strengthened, repeated, redirected, or made part of something larger.
The result doesn't always reveal the path.How the research develops
The work starts with paying attention.
This path isn't always linear. Naming may reveal something new to notice. Study may change the question. Sharing may make a limit easier to see.
Start with something that keeps appearing, or something the available explanation doesn't fully hold.
Develop language that makes the question easier to see without treating the name as the answer.
Place the idea against observation, scholarship, evidence, limits, differences, and possible exceptions.
Make the current thinking available with its stage, support, uncertainty, and open questions visible.
What we keep clear
The stage of the work should remain visible.
TISIC may share a question before it has become a study, or a model before it has been empirically tested. The label matters because it tells the reader what the work can currently carry.
Observation is not conclusion
Something noticed may start a question. It doesn't become a finding simply because it appears more than once.
A model is not the whole reality
A model can help make relationships visible. It will still leave something out, and those limits should remain visible too.
Claims stay close to the evidence
The language used shouldn't reach further than the work currently supports. Conceptual work is named as conceptual work.
Early ideas remain open
An idea may be tested, narrowed, expanded, revised, or replaced. Continued study is allowed to change the work.
Research and application
The research has its own home.
TISIC is the intellectual and research home.
TISIC develops questions, concepts, models, studies, writing, and public learning. A separate private consulting firm led by Dr. Liz Núñez determines how selected ideas may be carried into organizational practice.
The relationship allows research to inform application without making every research question answer to what can be packaged or sold.
